Individually Tailored Therapy Sessions
Individual therapy provides a secure space for the young person to explore what’s going on for them; the difficulties, worries, mood changes, etc. The young person would have the option to have face-to-face sessions or via zoom (depending on suitability and availability).
At the initial appointment, I would conduct a mini assessment, where we would explore the presenting issues; when they started experiencing changes, what are these difficulties, and an opportunity to get to know the young person (this also helps for the young person to get a sense of how they find me as well which is really important) .
All this information helps to formulate what type of therapy the young person would benefit from. It is important for me to choose the correct type of therapy for the young person, so that it helps them to feel safe, and open up easily in our sessions.
As mentioned in my HOME PAGE, I provide psychotherapy, play therapy, Cognitive behaviour therapy or an integrative approach where I combine the methods. I am confident in my approach, and what’s important to me is also understanding how the young person processes information, so it helps them to feel comfortable to talk about their concerns and worries.
The individual sessions help in the following ways:
A safe space to make sense of their worries and concerns.
Building their self-esteem and confidence
To talk about their difficulties openly
Processing emotions that are having a negative impact on themselves, family and school
Helping and teaching to communicate feelings
Building their own bespoke toolkit, and empowering them to deal with big emotions for example low mood, anxiety type symptoms, anger, worries etc
Managing risks
